New Website & a Sale

As you may have noticed, the new, totally revamped website we've been hard at work on over here is finally live!  And along with it a new web shop, so you can buy Roots & Wings Jewelry directly from us, instead of only through Etsy.  The Etsy shop will still be up and running, but now there's another way to buy!

Expect to see more regular updates in this space in the future, especially shop updates, specials, and behind the scenes studio info, along with the usual updates from daily life and travels (and if you're not already signed up to receive email notifications you can do so at the bottom of this page).  Without further ado, here is the new R&W SS16 (Spring/Summer) Collection, available exclusively in the shop (for now at least).  Take 25% off your order through 6/24/16 with the code "Cheers!" at checkout.

Thanks for taking a peek, and Happy Summer Solstice everyone!  XOXO.

Fishing Trip

This week we got away for a few days to fish the spring hatch on the Deschutes river in Eastern Oregon.  It's becoming a tradition to take these trips with my dad and justins stepdad, and it's a blast every time.  The fishing is fun, but even more so I love the specific smells and sights of this part of the world; sagebrush, juniper, the wind whistling through the grass, and the sun dropping quickly behind the steep canyon walls.  A brief trip away from home, work and technology, and I always come home with a fresh perspective and a few new stories to tell.

Catching Up

Hi guys!  It's been awhile since I've posted anything here.  Maintaining a consistent blog can be challenging at times, and I've gotten out of the habit recently.  I'm working on revamping this website and (EEEK!) opening an online shop on this platform as well, which I'm very excited about!  I have intentions to post more regularly, and to share more behind the scenes, updates and business-related info here once the new site is up and running.  Wish me luck!

Life has been sweet lately, busy and full and just plain GOOD.  I find myself stopping to notice how content I am, how wonderful everything feels right now.  Trying not to take those moments for granted.  My health has been significantly improving since the first of the year, which likely has a  lot to do with the feelings of contentment.  It's impossible to say if this will last, but I find myself worrying less and less about it.

We spent the month of March surfing in Mexico (photos to come soon in the next post), which was restorative in both body and soul, and returned home to glorious spring weather.  Since then it's been a lot of working in the garden, planting veggies and flowers and dreaming of late summers bounty.  A trip to Washington to visit van-friends, early days at the river, cutting firewood, working on the business and spending time with one of my best friends who recently returned to the PNW have filled my days.

I hope your spring has been joyful, productive and balanced.  More soon!

Garden Prep & Spring Dreaming

The weather turned freakishly warm and sunny for a couple of days recently, and I couldn't believe the difference it made!  I hadn't realized how starved I was for blue skies and the warmth of the sun.  Spring is almost here!  Everything is turning green again, the camelias are blooming, and the bulbs I planted in the fall are starting to push their little heads up.  We spent those sunny days outside, building more garden beds and cleaning up our yard.  It felt great to make some progress on the property, and to daydream about the potential for this space.  I can't wait to have a big, flourishing garden full of veggies and colorful flowers this summer!

Colorado Trip

Here are a few belated images from our January trip to Colorado.  We met up with a crew of my college friends, and it was wonderful to spend time with so many people I love.  We've known each other for over a decade now, and I'm so happy that we have managed to stay in touch despite the years, as we go from drinking cheap beer and making questionable choices, to marriage, careers, and talk of future babies.  It's pretty crazy and amazing to get to grow up with friends, and I cherish my time with these awesome folks.  And Colorado is amazing!!  Snowy hikes, hot springs, mountains and ghost towns.  Overall a great trip.
